– Failing in your attempts to stop using the drug.
– Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when you attempt to stop taking the drug

Smoking Addiction:- Tobacco contains a chemical called nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive substance.

Millions of people in the United States have been able to quit smoking. Although the number of cigarette smokers has dropped in recent years, the number of smokeless tobacco users has steadily increased. Smokeless tobacco products are either placed in the mouth, cheek, or lip and sucked or chewed on, or placed in the nasal passage. The nicotine in these products is absorbed at the same rate as smoking tobacco, and addiction is still very strong.

Both smoking and smokeless tobacco use carry many health risks.

Smoking can have many different effects on the body. It can:

  • Decrease the appetite — Fear of weight gain makes some people unwilling to stop smoking.
  • Boost mood, give people a sense of well-being, and possibly even relieve minor depression.
  • Increase activity in the intestines.
  • Create more saliva and phlegm.
  • Increase the heart rate by around 10 to 20 beats per minute.
  • Increase blood pressure by 5 to 10 mm Hg.
  • Possibly cause sweating, nausea, and diarrhea.
  • Stimulate memory and alertness — People who use tobacco often depend on it to help them accomplish certain tasks and perform well.

Symptoms of nicotine withdrawal appear within 2 to 3 hours after you last use tobacco.

Alcohol Addiction:- Alcohol is a legal drug, but one that carries a significant risk of addiction.

Some of the most common physical, psychological, and behavioral signs and symptoms of alcohol abuse are:

  • Poor coordination, Slurred speech
  • Impaired thinking, Memory impairment
  • Wanting to stop drinking but not managing to do so
  • Diverting energy from work, family, and social life in order to drink
  • Being secretive about the extent of the alcohol abuse in order to protect it
  • Engaging in risky behavior, such as drunk driving
  • Being in denial about the extent of the alcohol abuse problem
  • Becoming distressed at the prospect of not having access to alcohol

When a person who regularly abuses alcohol stops drinking or significantly reduces the amount of intake, withdrawal symptoms will emerge. Such symptoms can begin as soon as two hours after the last drink and continue for weeks. Symptoms can include shaking, anxiety, and the desire for a drink.

Caffeine Addiction:- Caffeine addiction is psychological or physiological dependence on the drug caffeine. Coffee is the primary source of caffeine and is widely consumed throughout the world. Caffeine is physiologically addictive. If someone drinks a lot of coffee for a prolonged period, or heavily uses some other source of caffeine, they will experience withdrawal symptoms if they suddenly stop.

The withdrawal symptoms will be relieved when caffeine is used again. This just means your body has adapted to the presence of caffeine, and if it suddenly goes without, you will experience some discomfort as your body adapts.
